How to test the safety performance of lithium battery manufacturers?

For the lithium battery safety test, there are mainly the following aspects: overcharge, short circuit, acupuncture, kneading, heavy object impact and other safety tests, the battery can not be fired, no blasting, the following is a detailed method:

1, overcharge test

The lithium battery is fully charged, and the overcharge test is performed according to the CE overcharge. When the battery is overcharged, the voltage rises to a certain voltage and stabilizes for a certain period of time. When the battery is close to a certain time, the battery voltage rises rapidly. When it rises to a certain limit, the battery is high. Pull off, the voltage drops to 0V, the battery does not catch fire, blast.

2, short circuit test

After the battery is fully charged, short-circuit the positive and negative terminals of the battery with a wire with a resistance of not more than 50mΩ, and test the external temperature of the battery to change. The maximum temperature of the battery is 140 °C, the battery cap is opened, and the battery does not ignite or blast;

3. Needle test: Place the fully charged battery on a flat surface and pierce the battery radially with a 3 mm diameter steel needle. Test the battery without fire or blasting;

4. Kneading test: Place the fully charged battery on a flat surface, apply a 13+1KN kneading force by a hydraulic cylinder, and knead the battery from a 32mm diameter steel rod. Once the kneading pressure reaches the maximum stop Kneading, the battery does not ignite, it can be blasted.
