In the new flagship mobile phone released this year, the mobile phone interface used is basically a USB Type-C interface. Micro USB interfaces are rarely seen at the moment, but many cheap mobile phones still use the micro USB interface.
At first glance, USB Type-C interface does have many advantages that Micro USB does not have. For example, it can be inserted and removed at both sides, and there will be a significant increase in transmission speed and charging speed. However, the large-scale popularization of Type-C may take some time, it is not perfect, and there are still many obstacles for ordinary consumers.
1.Type-C interface accessories are expensive
Let’s take Apple’s official MacBook Type-C charging cable as an example.. It can make MacBook 4K/60Hz or 1080P. /30Hz Connects to an external display and acts as a general USB device with an external power supply. But it sells for as much as $80.
2.Type-C interface does not mean faster charging speed
We said above that Type-C can provide faster charging speeds, which is not wrong, but this is only true for Type-C that conforms to the USB 3.1 standard. USB 3.1 supports USB-PD (Power Delivery) power supply standard, the maximum power supply can reach 100 watts (W), the charging speed will indeed be greatly improved, but for the USB 2.0 standard Type-C interface phone, It does not support true fast charging, the most obvious example is one plus two.
3.Type-C interface does not mean that data transmission will be faster
Similarly, Type-C supports faster data transfer speeds and refers to interfaces that conform to the USB 3.1 standard. Many devices that use the Type-C interface are not using the USB 3.1 standard, only the appearance changes. Moreover, even if your Type-C is a standard USB 3.1 interface, most of the computers on the market and some other devices are still based on the USB 2.0 standard.
4.Type-C interface is not compatible with Micro USB devices
Imagine if you are using a mobile phone with a Type-C interface, just forget to bring a data cable and a charger when you are on a business trip. If you want to borrow from others, if they don’t have such a data cable, it will feel bad. At the same time, you may have a lot of accessories and devices for the Micro USB interface, but when you switch to Type-C you will find that these devices all seem to be a bunch of garbage.
5.Type-C interface security is worrying
Due to the openness and flexibility of Type-C, it is more vulnerable to a wide range of attacks, especially in the face of BadUSB vulnerabilities, hackers can avoid the data read area, and store malicious code in the USB device controller. A firmware store that allows users to infect malicious devices to electronic devices before they are found. And security experts say there is little chance of fixing the BadUSB vulnerability.
