At the Huawei 5G conference this morning, Huawei’s consumer business CEO Yu Chengdong announced that Huawei officially launched the most powerful 5G terminal baseband chip Balong5000, supporting NSA and SA dual architecture, supporting 3G, 4G and 5G. At the same time, it has lower energy consumption and shorter delay.

Yu Chengdong also showed the first 5G terminal CPE equipped with Balong 5000 (which can convert the received 5G signal into Wi-Fi signal). Support Huawei’s smart home protocol, with 30% coverage enhancement, while supporting the latest Wi-Fi 6 standard, multi-device Internet speed is about 4 times faster, and the current speed is the fastest.

At the same time, Yu Chengdong also announced at the press conference that Huawei will release the first commercial 5G foldable mobile phone at the upcoming MWC 2019 World Mobile Conference, equipped with its own Kirin 980 chip and Balong 5000 chip.

Kirin 980 defaults to the current fastest 4.5G product, the first to support LTE Cat.21, the industry’s highest downlink rate of 1.4Gbps, including 4×4 MIMO 1.2Gbps (three-carrier aggregation), 2×2 MIMO 200Mbps two parts, and support 256QAM.

In addition, Kirin 980 can also choose to independently release the Balong 5000, which fully supports 5G.

Huawei said that Kirin 980 and Balong 5000 will be the first official commercial mobile platform to provide 5G functions.
